Kafka on the Shore

Haruki Murakami feels to me what Humayun Ahmed did for Bengali fiction, someone whose stories I keep returning to, even when I can't sit down to read as often as I'd like.

Kafka on the Shore follows two parallel narratives: a teenage runaway named Kafka who’s on a quest for identity, and an older man, Nakata, who can talk to cats and is hunting lost memories. The novel weaves magical realism with everyday concerns, showing how fate and free will can collide in the most unexpected ways.
